About John Ajvide Lindqvist

John Ajvide Lindqvist is the author of Let the Right One In and Handling the Undead. His first novel, Let the Right One In, was an instant bestseller in Sweden and Best Novel in Translation 2005 in Norway. The Swedish film based on the book, directed by Tomas Alfredson, has won a raft of international prizes, including Best Narrative Feature at Tribeca Film Festival. Released in October 2010, an American remake of the film titled Let Me In, directed by Matt Reeves of Cloverfield fame, was well-received by critics. Lindqvist grew up in Blackeberg—the setting of Let the Right One In—and wanted to be a magician before being a standup comedian for twelve years. He has written television as well and still lives in Sweden.
