Nowadays, plain nails on a woman’s hands don’t look good and also makes their outfit look drab and lifeless. These days the hot trend is of acrylic nails and it is very evident that women have been keeping up with this trend. However, getting acrylic nails professionally done from a professional cost a fortune. For those who may not be able to afford such a hefty amount to be paid for professional nails, these are the following easy steps to do acrylic nails at home.
Things you’ll need
- Nail file
- Nail cutter or clipper
- Acrylic nails
- Acrylic nail glue
- Primer pen (optional)
- Nail forms
- Monomer liquid
- Acrylic nail powder
- Small glass bowl
- Top coat
- Nail polish (optional)
Remove any old nail polish
For one to have the perfect looking and smooth acrylic nails, it is very important that any previously applied nail polish be completely removed from the nails.
Trim, File, and Buff
In this part of the step, cut your natural nails to the length that you are comfortable with, with the help of a nail clipper. Make sure that the nails are not cut too short otherwise the acrylic nails will not be able to fit. Now, file the nails to rid them of sharp and uneven edges. With the same file, buff the top surface of the nails to rid them of their shine so that acrylic nails can stick easily.
Check the size of the acrylic nail
From the packet of acrylic nails, now check which size of acrylic nail will fir on each of your nail. This step is important as a bigger size nail will not stick to your natural nail and will be uncomfortable on the finger as well.
Measure the acrylic nail accordingly
When doing acrylic nails at home, one has to make sure that the tip of the acrylic nails does not go beyond the middle of the natural nail. If it does so, then trim the acrylic nail to fit till the middle of your natural nail.
Glue the acrylics on
Using the respective glue, apply the acrylic nail onto your natural nail. The correct way to apply acrylic nail is to apply glue on the bottom part of the acrylic and then quickly putting it on to the natural nail before the glue dries out. Apply pressure for 10 seconds so that the acrylic is in place firmly. Make sure to not touch the part where the acrylic nail meets the natural nail so as to not mess up the glue.
Cut the nails
Now, cut the acrylic nails according to your desired length using a nail clipper.
File the base and tips
After successfully applying the acrylic nails, file the edges and tips to avoid sharp and rough edges. This is also done as the acrylics will be very raised in appearance right now. The transition between the natural nail and acrylic nail will be very visible and so to make it seamless, it is necessary to trim and buff the acrylic nail.
Once these nails are done and set in place, other accessories like top coat and nail polish which are optional can be used to beautify them more. Any nail polish of your choice can be applied and then top coat to give off a glossing finish.
