Why You Should Ask for Help When You Need It
We have too much pride. We would rather pretend to look like we know what we are doing in order to not be perceived as incompetent rather than ask for help. Many people see asking for a help as a sign of weakness. Others simply don’t want others to know that they are struggling. You have to be perceived that you are in control.
Asking for help doesn’t have to be as negative as we make it out to be. It is actually a strength to know when you’re weak. We place long-term perceptions on a short-term issue. Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re stupid at all. Asking for help just means that you need someone of greater skill for this specific time.
Confident people have no problem asking for help because they have no problem showing vulnerability. They also know that trying to do everything when there is something who has greater skill is not the best use of their time. Hiding a weakness is too stressful, and frankly, a waste of time and effort. A confident person finds someone who is good at what they do and learn from the experience, so they can accomplish the task next time. The act of asking for help also shows reverence for the knowledge and skill of the other person.
