Here’s Your Reminder That “This Too Shall Pass”

I don’t know what you’re going through today, or what you have been going through. I just have one word for you. “This too shall pass.” Nothing in life is permanent. That’s probably a hard concept to grasp at times, but your feelings towards people, things, and situations will change over a given amount of time. You’re not the same person you were yesterday.

During a difficult time seems to be the time where we tend to forget that our bad time is just time. I tend to believe that we forget the moment when we finally get to breathe under the sea of tribulation. The moment we get to rest because that moment in life is complete, and there’s nothing more to do, but to learn from the situation.

I’m guilty of it too. Whenever I feel down, I try not to make this feeling last too long because my emotion towards the situation is just as temporary as the situation. The of hours of anguish cannot compare of the numerous years of prosperity in my life. Take a second to generalize how you feel about your life. Hopefully, it’s been a good one. These couple of days aren’t going to change that generalization.

The worst thing you can do is minimalize the feeling. Those feelings are there for a reason. They shouldn’t be suppressed. My actions towards my feelings are acceptance and self care. I am proactive in making the decisions, knowing that the world will work itself into what it’s supposed to be. My faith also gives me the courage withstand any obstacle. The decisions I make don’t really matter in the grand scheme of things, so it’s better for me to have curiosity be my guiding light and let the master plan work its way out. This might not work for someone who needs a sense of control. For me, there’s only One in control and it’s not me.

Here’s my closing piece of advice. The next time you’re stressed about work, or angry at your children, or disappointed in your partner, do one thing. Breathe. Take note of the emotion you feel, but don’t act. Learn. When you don’t feel that emotion, make a rational decision to make your situation better. Also find a way to treat yourself… because you deserve it after what you’ve just gone through.
