Why Surrounding Yourself with Positive People is So Important

I, much like many of you, am working from home. If you live alone, like I do, you’ll also notice that it can get a bit lonely. I love the benefits from working from home. there isn’t much of a commute. Unless you want to count how long it takes to get from my bed to my desk. I can do household chores around the house. I can also be as comfortable as I would like. Shout out to everyone who doesn’t wear pants. The biggest thing I’m missing in this newly adopted way of working is human connection.

The thing we must realize before wanting to jump right back into the office because of loneliness is that not any human connection will do. The energy from the people around you has to energize you. If they deplete your energy, the intro to this post is kind of useless. When you were around people who are positive, it makes it that much easier for you to be positive as well.

Positivity is Contagious

If you’re going through a bad day, a person with a smile can easily change your mood. You can force yourself not to smile, sure. If you take the organic approach to positivity, you know that it’s very contagious. If someone tells a really good joke, you can’t help to laugh. Contrast that with a group of negative people. I don’t think I have to tell you what will happen. If you spend a majority of time with negative people, you yourself will be negative. Why would you want to do that to your mindstate?

Removing Negativity from Your Life

If you find yourself around people who are in constant drama, chances are they won’t see much elevation. If you’re looking to strive in all aspects of life, people with a different outlook could be bringing you down. To be honest, I hate writing something like that because people are people. None of us are perfect. At the same time, we become the group of people we hang out with the most. If you don’t see the people around you trying to elevate themselves, chances are they are pulling you down.

There are also the people you can’t confide in because their response is always negative. You can’t share with them your hopes and dreams because the rebuttal is how you wouldn’t be able to do it. It’s a blessing to have someone to be able to share both you dreams and your fears. Everyone needs at least one person to talk to. It’s a bonus if they also cheer your corner. It’s best to focus on relationships that promote positivity, knowing that you can share the same with them. Life is way to short to be negative.
